At 18:30 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat be launched at 19:30 to evacuate a crew member from the 38 foot yacht ""Cimaroon"" which was on passage from France to Cornwall. Helicopter evacuation had been considered, but it had been decided that it would be less traumatic to transfer the casualty by lifeboat once the yacht reached the more sheltered waters of Falmouth Bay.

The Offshore Lifeboat left her pontoon berth at 19:34 and rendezvoused with the yacht off the Manacle Buoy at 19:48. A lifeboat crewman was put onboard the yacht to assess the casualties' condition and it was decided to leave the casualty onboard the yacht, and to escort her into Falmouth. At 20:25 as the yacht was passing Pendennis Point the lifeboat again went alongside the yacht where the casualty and one other person were transferred to the lifeboat and taken to the lifeboat station where an Ambulance was waiting.

The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 20:35, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 20:50.
