Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: John Blakeston (Coxswain), David Proud, Alistair Heane, Dave Nicoll, Mark Waters, Tom Napper, Dr Richard James Location: 10 miles South East of Falmouth Shout Date: 06/06/2006 (All day) Weather:E 2, Moderate Sea, Good Visibility, Overcast At 01:05 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to evacuate an injured crewman from the 32m Beam Trawler Danielle (BM478) which was 16 miles South East of Falmouth. The crewman had been drawn into the trawlers winch and had extensive damage to his hand, arm and chest. The All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 01:15, and rendezvoused with the vessel 10 miles South east of Falmouth. The lifeboat Doctor and tow lifeboat men were put onboard the vessel to assess the casualtys condition, and once his injuries were stabilized he was placed in a stretcher and transferred to the All Weather Lifeboat. The lifeboat then made best possible speed back to Falmouth where the casualty was landed into the care of Ambulance Paramedics before being transferred to Treliske Hospital. The nature of the casualties injuries were so extensive that despite the best efforts of all involved it proved impossible to save the mans arm which sadly had to be amputated. The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 02:33. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 03:12.
