Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Luke Wills, Tom Bird Location: Helford River Shout Date: 04/10/2009 - 00:40 Weather:W 4, Slight Sea & Swell, Good Visibility, Occasional Showers ![]() At 00:34 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a call from the yacht Pactem which was moored in the Helford River reporting that one of its occupants was having breathing difficulties. Westcountry Ambulance service also tasked a first responder and an ambulance to meet the Inshore Lifeboat at the Ferry Boat Inn at Helford Passage. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 00:40 and arrived on scene in the Helford River at 00:56. The yacht was located on a visitors mooring just down stream of Port Navas Creek and the casualty was transferred to the Inshore Lifeboat and was taken ashore where he was handed into the care of the ambulance paramedics at 01:01. Having been treatment in the ambulance at 01:43 the casualty was taken back to his yacht, the Inshore Lifeboat then being released to return to station. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 02:08 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 02:30. The couple had been enjoying a weekend break on their 46ft Swan Yacht when the wife of the casualty had called the coastguard reporting that her husband who suffers from asthma had developed breathing difficulties. Having been treated by the ambulance crew the casualty was considered well enough to return to his yacht.
