At 19:00 while the Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was assisting with another casualty Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Inshore Lifeboat proceed to assist a 12m Yacht aground on the rocks in the Helford River.
The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 19:12 and having assessed the situation, passed a tow line to the yacht and pulled it clear of the rocks. Having confirmed that there was no water ingress the tow of the yacht to its mooring in Port Navas Creek commenced but at 19:40 the lifeboat was advised of another vessel requiring assistance in Falmouth Bay so the yacht was placed on a mooring off Helford Passage and by 19:50 the lifeboat was heading back out of the Helford to assist the next casualty.
The yacht had suffered engine failure and had been blown onto the rocks before it could sail clear. A local motorboat stood by the yacht until the Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene.
