Inshore lifeboat (Tasked 16:11 / Returned 17:28) – Nick Head (Helmsman), Jake Ingleby, Jamie Wakefield
Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was attending the annual Durgan Regatta in the Helford when at 16:11 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the lifeboat proceed to assist the 11m Yacht Pretender which had reported having a fouled propeller ¾ mile East of Rosemullion Head.
The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 16:16 and having established that the rope could not be freed the yacht was passed a line and the tow back to its mooring in the Percuil River commenced at 16:25. The yacht was safely secured on it mooring at 17:16, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station.
The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 17:28 where the lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for service by 17:50.
The yacht which had four people on board had been sailing in Falmouth Bay when it had managed to get its genoa sheet wrapped around its propeller. This meant they were restricted in their ability to sail and could not use their engine so they contacted the Coastguard for assistance.
