At 23:17 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a request from the police for assistance with a search for a missing person who had last been seen in the village of Flushing. The Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team has already been tasked to assist and the decision was made to also launch the Lifeboat Station Boarding Boat to assist with the search.
The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 23:23 and was followed shortly afterwards by the Lifeboat Boarding Boat which left its pontoon berth at 23:30. The Inshore Lifeboat commenced its search at 23:28 being joined by the Boarding Boat at 23:40. Both lifeboats worked with the Coastguard Team to carry out a comprehensive search of the coastline from the Penryn River around Trefusis and Penarrow Points up to Mylor Creek. The search was called off at 01:32 without the casualty being located and the two lifeboats returned to their station.
The Inshore Lifeboat was recovered onto its slipway at 01:45 while the Lifeboat Boarding Boat was returned to its pontoon berth. Both lifeboats were then refuelled and made ready for service by 02:05.
Thankfully the missing person was located safe and well ashore the following morning.
