Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat

At 12:15 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following reports that an inflatable with two children onboard was being blown out to sea from Gillan Creek at the mouth of the Helford River.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her from her slipway at 12:21 and headed across Falmouth Bay, arriving on scene off Gillan Creek at 12:30. It was soon established that the dinghy had already been assisted back to the shore by members of the public in another boat so once it had been confirmed that no medical assistance was required the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station at 12:39.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 12:56 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 13:15.

The dinghy had been blown out of the creek by the strong westerly winds, but luckily members of the public had spotted the incident and after reporting it to the Coastguard were able to assist the two casualties before the arrival of the Inshore Lifeboat.
