Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Mark Pollard (Coxswain), David Proud, Alan Rowe, Alistair Heane, John Blakeston, Dave Nicoll, Nick Lewis, Phil Rogers, Marc Thomas, Andy Jenkin Location: Falmouth Bay Shout Date: 20/11/2006 (All day) Weather:W 4, Slight Sea, Moderate Swell, Good Visibility, Overcast with Heavy Showe At 06:33 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to escort the 24m French Fishing Vessel Le Boree Al into harbour. The vessel had an injured crewman onboard who had suffered a back injury while the vessel was 45 miles ESE of The Lizard at around midnight. An attempt to evacuate the crewman by helicopter had to be abandoned due to the severe weather conditions so the vessel was advised to head to Falmouth. The All Weather Lifeboat left its berth at 06:45 and headed out to meet the Fishing Vessel in Falmouth Bay and at 07:00 the lifeboat started to escort the vessel into the harbour. No one onboard the fishing vessel spoke any English so once the vessel was off Governor Buoy two lifeboat crew were put onboard to give additional advice. At 08:00 the fishing vessel was safely berthed alongside the docks pontoon on County Wharf where an ambulance and paramedics were waiting to meet the vessel. The lifeboat moored alongside the fishing vessel while members of the lifeboat crew assisted the paramedics in treating and evacuating the casualty on a stretcher so that he could be taken to Treliske Hospital for treatment. The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 08:35. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 08:50.
