Fowey Offshore Lifeboat, a Rescue Helicopter from RNAS Culdrose, two merchant vessels and other French fishing vessels were also tasked to assist The Offshore Lifeboat left her berth at 17:49 and it was estimated that the lifeboat would arrive on scene 70 mins later. The helicopter arrived on scene at 18:06 and located the five survivors in a liferaft, the vessel having already sunk. Once it was confirmed that all the casualties were safe, the Fowey Lifeboat was released to return to station, leaving the Falmouth Lifeboat to continue. At 18:48, Falmouth Coastguards confirmed that one of the other fishing vessels was recovering the liferaft and distress beacon, so the Falmouth Lifeboat was also released to return to station. The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 20:15, where it was ready for service by 20:40.
