At 11:29 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 26ft Fishing Boat Sayonara, which had suffered engine failure 3.5 miles South east of Zone Point. The boat had four people onboard and its engine had dropped a valve completely disabling the vessel.

The All Weather Lifeboat left her berth at 11:34 and arrived on scene at 11:55. A towline was passed to the Fishing Boat and the tow back to Falmouth commenced at 12:00. The Sayonara was safely berthed alongside the Port Pendennis marina at 13:10, and the Lifeboat was released to return to station.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 13:15, where it was ready for service by 13:30.
