Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Mark Pollard (Coxswain), David Proud, Alan Rowe, Alistair Heane, John Blakeston, John Lower, Andy Jenkin Location: Off Trefusis Point Shout Date: 15/09/2007 (All day) Weather:Calm, Slight Sea and Swell, Good Visibility, Partly Cloudy At 20:20 as Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat was being released from a previous service call, the Fishing Boat Blue Minstrel called up reporting that she had suffered engine failure off Trefusis Point. Although she was not in any immediate danger Falmouth Coastguard were advised and the lifeboat was tasked to assist. Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat was alongside the casualty by 20:24 and having passed a line the boat with two persons onboard was undertow by 20:27. Although the vessel normally berths at Challenger Marine near Penryn it was agreed to take the vessel to Falmouth Marina where she was placed alongside the fuelling berth at 20:40. The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 20:55. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 21:10. The fishing boat had suffered a catastrophic failure with the con rod exiting the side of the engine.
