Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Luke Wills (Helmsman), Oliver Lewis, Claire Angove Location: In the Manacle Rocks Shout Date: 16/10/2007 (All day) Weather:S 7, Rough Sea & Heavy Swell, Poor Visibility, Overcast with Rain At 12:44 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a call from the 15ft open fishing boat Ann Rosa PZ80 reporting that she was broken down 500m off the Sharks Fin Rock in the Manacles. The Porthoustock Coastguard Mobile was also tasked to assist. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 12:49 and headed across Falmouth Bay making best possible speed in the prevailing weather conditions. At 12:59 Falmouth Coastguard decided that it would be wise in view of the deteriorating conditions and the position of the casualty, that the Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat should also proceed to provide additional assistance if required, the lifeboat leaving its pontoon berth at 13:04. The inshore lifeboat arrived on scene at 13:09 to find that the Ann Rosa had already been taken in tow by another local boat. It was agreed that the tow should be transferred to the inshore lifeboat and the Ann Rosa was then towed back into Porthoustock where the boat was placed on the beach at 13:30 so it could be recovered. Once details of the casualty had been obtained the inshore lifeboat was released to return to its station at 13:40. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 14:04 where it was refuelled, and was ready for service by 14:20. The fishing boats outboard had failed whilst it was fishing in the Manacles and despite the skippers attempts it proved impossible to restart so he wisely called for assistance.
