At 10:53 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to carry out a medical evacuation of a crewman from the French Fishing Vessel Le Jusant, which was reported to be in a position 30 miles South East of Falmouth. All communications were being carried out by the French Coastguard and were being relayed to Falmouth Coastguard who was coordinating the rescue.

Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 11:04 and having passed Black Rock set course for the Fishing Vessel last reported position. At 11:56 after Falmouth Coastguard had requested an updated position from the French it was found out that the original position was incorrect with the vessel in fact being to the South West of the Isles of Scilly, so Falmouth Lifeboat was released to return to station, the lifeboat at that stage being 18 miles off Falmouth.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 13:02. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 13:30.

The 23m French Fishing Vessel Le Jusant eventually landed her crewman in Newlyn where he received medical attention. The error in Longitude had occurred during the relaying of the message by the French Coastguard.
