At 08:41 Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat was launched by Falmouth Coastguard to investigate the source of an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) whose Distress Signal had been detected by Satellite.

The Offshore Lifeboat carried out a search of the Harbour, Carrick Roads and Falmouth Bay using its Radio Detection Equipment, but was unable to locate the source of the Distress Signal.

At 09:55, having carried out a thorough search of the area, the Offshore Lifeboat was released to return to station.

Later in the day, the EPIRB was located onboard a yacht in Falmouth Marina, by personnel from the Radio Investigation Service.

The Offshore Lifeboat was refuelled and ready for service by 10:12.
