Falmouth Atlantic 75 class inshore lifeboat RNLB Eve Pank (B756)

At 16:15 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following reports of an empty inflatable tender possibly tied to a lobster pot marker off Pennance Point in Falmouth Bay.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 16:21 and arrived on scene at 16:29. The tender was located and it was confirmed that it was tied to the marker for a single lobster pot. While further investigations were being carried out the Motor Boat Dream Weaver appeared and confirmed that it was their tender, so they recovered the boat and the inshore lifeboat was released to return to its station at 16:56.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 17:10 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 17:25.

It turned out that the tender had been deliberately moored off Maenporth Beach using the Lobster Pot as an anchor, but with the prevailing wind and the sandy seabed it had drifted nearly a mile. They were advised that in future it might be wise to use a purpose made anchor to ensure the tender remained in its original location.
