At 17:22 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat be launched to search for the yacht Prion which had initiated a DSC distress call indicating an explosion and fire in a position, which equated to Place Manor at the entrance to the Percuil River. A Rescue Helicopter from RNAS Culdrose had already been tasked to assist, and at 17:27 the Inshore Lifeboat was also requested to launch to check the yachts moorings.

The Offshore Lifeboat left her berth at 17:35 and headed for the search area. At 17:39 as the Offshore Lifeboat was leaving the harbour it reported locating the yacht off the Eastern Arm of the docks. It was soon confirmed that all was well onboard, and while the Offshore Lifeboat returned to station the Inshore Lifeboat was asked to obtain further details and to try and identify why a Distress call had been initiated.

The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 17:47, where it was ready for service by 17:57.
