Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was afloat on exercise when at 10:07 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Inshore Lifeboat proceed to investigate a report of a Dory adrift off Rosemullion Head.

The Inshore Lifeboat which had been exercising in Falmouth Bay arrived on scene at 10:27. It soon became apparent that the boat had parted its mooring and had drifted out of the Helford River. The boat was taken in tow and was placed on a mooring off the Ferry Boat Inn at Helford Passage at 10:55, the Inshore Lifeboat then being released to return to its exercise.

The 13ft Dory with a 40hp outboard had parted its mooring and had then drifted out of the Helford on the ebb tide. The boat had been seen by the watch keepers at the NCI Lookout at Nare Head who in turn reported it to Falmouth Coastguard.
