Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was on exercise in Falmouth Bay, when at 10:01 Falmouth Coastguard requested the Inshore Lifeboat proceeding to assist a dog, which had fallen 50ft over the cliff into the water close to the wreck of the Ben Asdale near Maenporth Beach.

When the Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 10:10 the dog could be seen on the rocks at the base of the cliff, and two crewmembers were put ashore to check its condition. The 12-month-old springer spaniel called Tina was obviously in a state of shock, but appeared to have no life threatening injuries. The dog was then evacuated to the Inshore Lifeboat, and having polished off a mars bar, it was landed at Maenporth Beach at 10:40 into the care of its grateful owners. Her owners then took Tina to local vet for a check up.

The Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to its exercise at 10:55.
