Falmouth Offshore and Inshore Lifeboats were on exercise in the Carrick Roads, when at 11:00, Falmouth Coastguard, contacted the lifeboats and requested they proceed to assist a dive boat with two persons onboard which had broken down 150 yards off the rocks on the North side of Pencra Head near Porthkerris.

The Offshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 11:17. The Inshore Lifeboat, which had arrived on scene at 11:14, had towed the 6m Rigid Inflatable clear of any immediate danger and by 11:25 the tow was successfully transferred to the Offshore for the return trip to Falmouth.

At 12:34 once the Offshore Lifeboat and casualty had arrived back in shelter of Falmouth Harbour the tow was again returned to the Inshore Lifeboat, so the Rigid Inflatable could towed to the Grove Place Dinghy Park where the boat was safely recovered onto the slipway at 12:45.

The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 12:47, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 13:00.
