Falmouth Atlantic 75 Class Inshore Lifeboat - RNLB Eve Pank (B756)

At 11:29 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore and All Weather Lifeboats be launched following a VHF call from the Dive Boat Patrice II reporting a diver overdue in a position 2.5 miles Southeast of Zone Point. A Rescue Helicopter from RNAS Culdrose was also tasked and a number of vessels responded to the Coastguards Mayday Relay broadcast.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 11:35 and arrived on scene at 11:50. By this time the diver had been located on the seabed by his fellow divers and with the assistance of the Inshore Lifeboat he was brought to the surface. The casualty was then recovered from the water by the All Weather Lifeboat before being winched into the Rescue Helicopter and flown to Treliske Hospital. At 12:40 both Lifeboats were released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 13:03 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 13:20.

The diver who was known to many of the crew sadly did not survive and our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
