At 13:00 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat be launched to assist the 40ft Dive Boat Under Pressure which had suffered engine failure = mile East of Nare Head, at the entrance to the Helford River. The boat, which had seven persons onboard, had anchored off the lee shore but in the heavy sea the anchor was in danger of dragging.

The Offshore Lifeboat left her berth at 13:14 and arrived on scene at 13:33. A towline was passed and at 13:40 the tow back to Falmouth was commenced. At 14:25 the casualty was safely berthed alongside the Port Pendennis Marina and the Offshore Lifeboat was released to return to station.

The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 14:35, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 14:50.
