Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Mark Waters (Helmsman), Tom Napper, Luke Wills Location: Off Lugo Rock Buoy Shout Date: 13/07/2007 (All day) Weather:SE 7, Rough Sea and Moderate Swell, Good Visibility, Overcast At 15:41 Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was departing the Percuil River having just completed a service to another yacht when Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Inshore Lifeboat proceed to investigate a dinghy, which had been found adrift off Lugo Rock Buoy. The dinghy had signs of recent occupancy including a lifejacket and fresh carton of milk. The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 15:44 and took the dinghy off the Rigid Inflatable that had first located it. The dinghy was placed back in the water close to the location where it had originally been found to try and identify the direction from which it had come. With this data a search was commenced of the local area. At 16:30 the Inshore Lifeboat located the yacht Mariwka heading in towards the Percuil River and was able to confirm that the dinghy belonged to this yacht. Having handed over the dinghy to the skipper of the yacht the Inshore Lifeboat crew explained the importance of immediately reporting the loss of such an item to the Coastguard to prevent unnecessary alarm. Once details had been obtained the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station at 16:30. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 16:50 where it was refuelled, and was ready for service by 17:05.
