Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Luke Wills, Oliver Lewis Location: Between Flushing and Greenbank Shout Date: 26/08/2008 - 21:01 Weather:W 1, Calm Sea & No Swell, Good Visibility, Partly Cloudy ![]() At 20:58 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the immediate launch of Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat following reports of cries for help from the water between Flushing and Greenbank. Falmouth Coastguard Mobile and various Police units were also tasked to assist. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 21:01 and headed up the harbour arriving on scene off Flushing at 21:03. More information was obtained from people on Flushing Quay and a search of the water and moorings between Flushing and Greenbank was commenced using the Thermal Imaging Camera and Parachute Illumination Flares. At 21:25 the Inshore Lifeboat crew spoke to an occupant of a yacht moored off Greenbank, who advised that earlier that evening he had spoken to two girls on the shoreline at Greenbank who had been mucking about and were shouting for help and had been warned them not to continue or the police would be called. The Inshore Lifeboat and Coastguard Team continued to search the area until 21:37 when it was considered that the area had been covered thoroughly, so the units were then released to return to station. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 21:48 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 22:04. It is believed that the cries for help had probably been from these two girls. The police will be carrying out enquiries to try and identify those involved as this is being considered as a malicious incident which could have easily prevent the emergency services from being available for a real incident elsewhere.
