At 10:06 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched again to assist the police in a search for a missing person between Flushing and Penarrow Point. The search was a continuation of the one carried out the previous evening, and had been started again when police had become aware of specific information, which indicated the casualty was still in the area. Falmouth Coastguard Mobile and Cliff Rescue Team were also tasked to assist along with Police Units and the Cornwall Rescue Group.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 10:12 and headed over to Kiln Quay. At 10:18 a slow search of the foreshore around Trefusis and towards Penarrow Point began with one lifeboatman walking along the rocks while the others observed from afloat. Having completed this search the area between Kiln Quay and Flushing was also searched in the same manner. The Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team was tasked to carry out an extensive search of the fields and woodland in the surrounding area.

At 12:19 the Inshore Lifeboat had completed its search area and was therefore released to return to station, no sign of the missing person having been found.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 12:30 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 12:45.

This second search in daylight had ensured that the area given had been thoroughly covered by all units. Once again the new hand held thermal imaging camera carried on the inshore lifeboat had proved invaluable proving that it can be used effectively both in daylight as well as at night.
