At 19:30 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following reports that the Catamaran Ultraviolet had capsized in the Carrick Roads off the West Narrows Buoy and that the safety boats in attendance were requesting assistance.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her from her slipway at 19:36 arriving on scene at 19:41. Once it had been confirmed that the three crew onboard the Catamaran were safe and did not require any medical attention, the Inshore Lifeboat crew then accessed the best way to recover the Catamaran and at 19:59 the additional assistance of the All Weather Lifeboat was requested.

The All Weather Lifeboat arrived on scene at 20:17 and a line was attached in an attempt to right the vessel, an operation that was successfully completed at 20:52 with the assistance of the Inshore Lifeboat. Once righted the Catamaran was towed into the shelter of the Docks to sort out its rigging and at 21:19 the All Weather Lifeboat was re-tasked to an incident in Falmouth Bay.

The Inshore Lifeboat then towed the Catamaran to its mooring where it was safely secured at 21:50, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its station. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 21:55 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 22:15.

The 26ft Firebird Catamaran Ultraviolet had been sailing downwind with its spinnaker up in a moderate swell when it had capsized. A number of boats responded to the incident and although the casualties had already been recovered from the water the Inshore Lifeboat and All Weather Lifeboats were tasked to confirm their safety and to ensure nobody was put at risk during the recovery along with assisting as required.
