At 10:10 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a call from the 30ft Catamaran Swallowtail reporting that she had fouled a Pot Marker and the skipper and his wife were unable to free the rope from the propeller.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 10:16, arriving on scene at 10:30. The Inshore Lifeboat was tied alongside the Catamaran and took the weight off the line while one of the Inshore Lifeboat crew cut and reconnected the Pot Marker to ensure the fisherman was able to retrieve his gear. Once free of the Pot Marker the second crewmember went into the water and was able to unravel the rope enough for it to be pulled free from the propeller shaft.

At 10:53 the skipper tested his engine, and confirmed that he was happy to continue his passage to Fowey so the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 11:18 where it was refuelled, and was ready for service by 11:35.
