Falmouth Severn Class All Weather Lifeboat - RNLB Richard Cox Scott (17-29)

At 22:49 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 24ft Catamaran Bugs Bunny with two people onboard, which had suffered steering failure off The Manacle Buoy.

Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 22:59 arriving on scene at 23:22. The Catamaran had managed to sail further out to sea, but with only limited steering required a tow into harbour. A towline was passed and at 23:30 the catamaran was under tow for Falmouth. At 01:14 the catamaran was safely berthed at the Port Pendennis Marina and the lifeboat was released to return to station.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 01:25. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 01:47.

The Catamaran was on passage from Poole in Dorset to South Wales and had been heading for the Helford River for shelter when the problems with the steering had developed.
