Weather:S 8, Rough Sea, Good Visibility, Sunny with Showers

At 13:06 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist a capsized Catamaran off Penarrow point, in the Carrick Roads. A yacht was reported to be standing by the catamaran.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 13:13, and arrived on scene at 13:17. The Yacht Noonrush, which had gone to the catamarans assistance, had taken the 18ft Dart in tow, but was unable to tow it back to Restronguet Sailing Club due to the shallow water. At 13:22 the Inshore Lifeboat took over towing the inverted catamaran, and at 13:45 had safely beached it at the sailing club, and the Inshore Lifeboat was then released to return to station.

The catamaran had been sailing in the Gale Force conditions, when its mast had snapped, causing it to capsize. The single occupant had been unable to right it.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 14:00 where it was refuelled and ready for service by 14:15.
