At 16:44 Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched by Falmouth Coastguard to go to the assistance of a 16ft Dart Catamaran with two persons onboard which had capsized off Messack Point, Carrick Roads.

When the Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 16:57, the Pilot Boat ""L K Mitchell"" was already on scene and had recovered one of the crew. The crew of the Inshore Lifeboat assisted the other dinghy sailor to right the Catamaran. It was then sailed back to Mylor Harbour by the dinghy sailor and one of the lifeboat crew, while the Inshore Lifeboat recovered the other sailor, who was suffering from the cold, from the Pilot Boat and transferred her to Mylor Harbour. The Catamaran was safely secured at Mylor Harbour at 17:14 and the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 17:21, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 17:30.
