At 18:56 while on exercise in Falmouth Bay, Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was requested by Falmouth Coastguard to go to the assistance of a 14ft Laser II dinghy which had capsized off Pennance Point, Falmouth Bay. Two persons were reported in the water with the third sitting on the up turned boat.

The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 18:59, and managed with difficulty to right the dinghy. All three crew were transferred to the Inshore Lifeboat as they were suffering from the cold. The dinghy was then slowly towed back to the Helford River where they were safely landed at 20:16. The Inshore Lifeboat was then released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 20:38, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 21:00.
