At 02:20 Falmouth Coastguard observed the 20,000 Gross Tonne Bulk Carrier ""Pooja"" dragging its anchor in Falmouth Bay in Storm Force Conditions, with gusts reaching 84 knots. The vessel advised that they had requested a Pilot and that they were trying to haul the anchor to reposition in the Bay. At 02:36 Falmouth Coastguard again contacted the vessel to advise that they were in danger of running aground on Black Rock, at which the ""Pooja"" confirmed she was in difficulties and required assistance.

The Coastguard requested the assistance of the Harbour Tugs, and diverted the Coastguard Tug ""Far Sky"" which was escorting another vessel 25 miles Southeast of Lizard Point. At 02:53 Falmouth Lifeboat was requested to launch to standby the vessel which had managed to clear Black Rock, but had then run aground at Molunan Beach, inside St Anthony Lighthouse.

At 03:12 Falmouth Lifeboat left her berth and made best speed in the violent sea conditions, arriving on scene at 03:24. At 03:30 the Pilot Boat L.K.Mitchell, managed to manoeuvre around the vessels stern, and between the vessel and the shore to place a pilot onboard the ship. The Lifeboat and the Pilot Boat then stood by the vessel until the arrival of the Tug ""St Pirran"" at 04:30. The lifeboat provided soundings to allow the Tug to get as close as possible, before assisting to transfer the towline from the ""St Pirran"" to the ship. At 05:21 the ""Far Sky"" arrived on scene and having itself embarked a pilot, positioned itself off the ships stern, where a rocket line was fired and a towline transferred. At 06:15 both tugs were in a position to commence the tow and at 06:30 the ""Pooja"" was successfully refloated.

At 06:35 the Offshore Lifeboat was released to return to station, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 06:48.
