Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Alan Barnes (Coxswain), John Murray, David Proud, Mark Pollard, John Lower, Jeff Gill, Luke Tudor Location: On Black Rock, at Entrance to Falmouth Harbour Shout Date: 07/06/2003 (All day) Weather:SW 4, Moderate Sea, Good Visibility, Sunny Periods "Falmouths inshore and offshore lifeboats were already at sea having just completed a search rescue demonstration prior to the start of the AZAB (Azores and back). The race commenced at 15:00 and shortly afterwards at 15:10 the Belgian yacht Ora Pro Nobis was observed to run aground on Black Rock. The coastguard requested that both lifeboats proceed to assist. The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 15:11 and having assessed the situation, placed a crewmember onboard the yacht before attaching a towline. The inshore lifeboat then attempted to tow the yacht off the reef but this proved impossible. The offshore lifeboat arrived on scene at 15:14 and prepared to transfer its towline to the yacht with the help of the inshore lifeboat. But in the mean time, one of the other committee boats managed to get a line to the yachts mast and was able to heal the yacht over enough to allow it to be floated off. The towline from the inshore lifeboat was released and the yacht rejoined the race at 15:30, non the worse for its brief spell ashore. The offshore lifeboat was released to return to station at 15:40 while the inshore lifeboat was asked to standby another yacht whose mainsheet block had failed. The offshore lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 16:09, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 16:30."
