Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat was launched at 16:44 to go to the assistance of the 36ft Yacht ""Tawarri"", which was on fire = mile South of Pendennis Point. The yacht had three adults, two children and two dogs onboard. The motor boat ""Dura"" which was nearby also went to the yachts assistance.

The lifeboat arrived on scene at 16:55 and found that the crew of the yacht had managed to extinguish the fire using one of their own fire extinguishers, and one from the motor boat. Two adults, two children and two dogs had transferred to the motor boat for safety, but after the lifeboat was alongside they were put onboard the lifeboat. The lifeboat crew checked that the fire was fully extinguished and disconnected the batteries, before towing the yacht back to its mooring in the Helford River. The yacht was placed safely on her mooring at 18:15, and the lifeboat was released to return to station.

The Offshore Lifeboat was back at its berth at the station at 18:35, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 18:48.
