Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat was launched at 16:45 to go to the assistance of the 28ft Yacht Tigger, which had reported to Falmouth Coastguard that she had lost her rudder two miles South of Pendennis Point. The yacht had three persons onboard and was able to maintain her position but with no steering required assistance to get back to Falmouth.

The lifeboat arrived on scene at 17:01 and having assessed the situation, a drogue was passed to the casualty to steady the yacht during the tow back to Falmouth. Just as the towline was passed to the yacht she was hit by a large breaking sea and the yachtsman on the bow was submerged for a few seconds. At 17:14 the yacht was under tow back to Falmouth where she was safely berthed at Port Pendennis Marina at 18:05

The Offshore Lifeboat was back at its berth at the station at 18:15, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 18:30.
