At 14:35 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat be launched following a report that a 34ft Vessel had broken down 200 yards off Rosemullion Head and was in danger of drifting ashore. At 14:29 Falmouth Coastguard had also requested the Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat should be launched to assist.

The Offshore Lifeboat left her pontoon berth at 14:38 and arrived on scene at 14:51. The Inshore Lifeboat had located what turned out to be the 28ft Fishing Vessel ""Orlando"" > mile East of Rosemullion Head, the boat having suffered mechanical failure. The Inshore Lifeboat had put a crew member onboard the casualty and the Offshore Lifeboat then took the boat in tow back to Falmouth. The ""Orlando"" was towed back to the entrance to Penryn River, were at 16:00 the Inshore Lifeboat took over the tow for the short journey up to the vessel's moorings off Ponsharden.

The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 16:15, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 16:30.
