Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat was launched at 19:55 to go to the assistance of the 23ft Sports Boat Jazalion, which had reported to Falmouth Coastguard that she had struck the rocks and was taking on water, with seven people onboard. The Falmouth Coastguard Mobile and the Rescue Helicopter from Culdrose were also dispatched to assist.

The lifeboat arrived on scene at 20:06. The helicopter arrived shortly afterwards just as the lifeboat went alongside the casualty to take the seven crew off the boat, which by this time was getting low in the water. By 20:09 all the crew were safely onboard the lifeboat and two lifeboat crewmen had been put onboard the boat to try and pump out the water. But the situation deteriorated quickly and the crewmen were taken just before the boat capsized at 20:12. A tow line was then attached to the boat at 20:25 and she was slowly towed towards Maenporth Beach where lifeboats Y-Boat assisted taking lines ashore so the Coastguard Mobile could winch the boat into shallow water to await the reseeding tide. The Y-Boat was recovered onto the lifeboat by 21:02 and the lifeboat then returned to station with the seven casualties.

The Offshore Lifeboat landed the casualties at the station at 21:17, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 21:33.
