Boat: Inshore Lifeboat
Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Glen Reed, Mark Pollard
Location: Off Gyllingvase Beach, Falmouth
Shout Date: 21/05/2000 (All day)
Weather:W 4, Slight Sea, Moderate, Overcast with Showers

Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched at 20:06 to go to the assistance of a 20ft Ski Boat, which had broken down off Gyllingvase Beach. The five occupants had contacted the Coastguard using their mobile phone, to ask for assistance as they did not have any alternative method of propulsion, not even any paddles.

The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 20:10 and took the boat in tow back to Falmouth. The Ski Boat was safely returned to the Grove Place Dinghy Park at 20:41, where the occupants were enlightened on the need to carry various safety equipment, which should have included lifejackets, flares, VHF radio and fire extinguishers.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back at station by 20:55, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 21:15.
