Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched at 14:42 to go to the assistance of the 18ft motor boat Blue Dolphin which had broken down two miles South East of Falmouth. The two occupants of the boat contacted Falmouth Coastguard using their VHF radio when their main outboard had suffered an electrical fault, and their standby outboard would not start.

The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 14:50 and took the boat in tow back to Falmouth, where she was safely berthed alongside Custom House Quay at 15:20.

The Inshore Lifeboat returned to station at 15:25, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 15:30.

At the time of the call-out Falmouth Lifeboat Station had been open to the public as part of the National RNLI Lifeboat Open Day, so providing a large number of the public the chance to see the Inshore Lifeboat launched on service.
