Falmouth Atlantic 75 class inshore lifeboat - RNLB Eve Pank (B756)

Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was afloat on exercise with the All Weather Lifeboat off Pendennis Point when at 19:46 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat proceed to assist a 14ft Shakespeare Speedboat, which had broken down off Governor Buoy.

The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 19:48 and took the boat in tow back to the slipway at Mylor Harbour. The boat and its two occupants were placed safely ashore at 20:16, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to its exercise.

The speedboat had been returning from the Helford River when it had suffered engine failure. The two occupants had tried to paddle the boat back into the harbour but could not make headway against the ebbing tide so had used their mobile phone to request assistance. The boat and its crew were well equipped and the engine failure had been due to a fuel problem, which could not be fixed.
