The yacht was 16 miles South East of Zone Point and was only making 1.5 knots towards Falmouth. The Fowey Lifeboat had initially been called out by Brixham Coastguard to assist the yacht but as she was heading for Falmouth they stood by until the arrival of the Falmouth Lifeboat. Once onboard a temporary forestay was established and at 18:20 in view of the yachts slow progress the lifeboat took the vessel in tow for Falmouth. At 21:30 when the yacht was safely in the shelter of the Carrick Roads the tow was dropped and the yacht proceeded to Port Pendennis Marina under her own power. The Offshore Lifeboat returned to station at 21:40, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 22:00. Coxswain : Alan Barnes.
