Location: St Mawes Castle
Shout Date: 29/06/2002 (All day)

At 17:05, the Offshore Lifeboat was alongside its berth with a crew onboard, when the Coastguard requested that the Lifeboat proceed to the assistance of the 10ft dinghy Damsel with two persons onboard which had suffered engine failure and was drifting onto the Rocks under St Mawes Castle.

The Offshore Lifeboat left its berth at 17:09 and arrived on scene off St Mawes Castle at 17:14. The dinghy was on the rocks in an area of shallow water, so a crewmember in a dry suit entered the water and swam a towline ashore to the dinghy. At 17:18 the dinghy had been successfully towed off the rocks and both occupants were transferred to the lifeboat for the return trip back to Falmouth, where they were landed at the Lifeboat Station.

The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 17:35, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 17:50.
