Press Releases

On Sunday the 8th August 2010, at 5 pm, the annual Falmouth Lifeboat Quayside Service will be held on Custom House Quay, Falmouth. Both the inshore and the all weather lifeboats will be in attendance, and after the service the all weather Severn Class lifeboat will be open to visitors.

The service will be conducted by the reverend Barrington Bennetts who has been Chaplain to the lifeboat crew for the past nine years. Music for the service will be provided by the Youth Band of Pendennis Brass accompanied by singers from the choir of the Parish Church of King Charles the Martyr.

Reverend Bennetts, a long time supporter of the RNLI, was ordained in 1992. He is also the Landlord and Licensee of the Seven Stars public house on the Moor, which has been in his family since his grandmother’s time. The Seven Stars dates back to 1660 and is reputed to be the oldest pub in Falmouth.

Amy, Reverend Bennett’s granddaughter, has recently decorated one of the windows at the front of the pub with RNLI paraphernalia, providing members of the public with directions of how to get to the boathouse where RNLI volunteers man the souvenir shop and others offer guided tours around the two lifeboats.
