Press Releases

Whilst on a Public Relations (PR) exercise in Falmouth Bay on Sunday 19th July the inshore lifeboat was tasked at 1.33 pm to go to the aid of three young men caught on the rocks by a rising tide. The following day, at 5.50 pm the lifeboat was called again, this time to assist in the recovery of a person in the water in the River Fal, above King Harry Ferry.

The volunteer crew of the Falmouth RNLI Inshore Lifeboat were on their way to a PR exercise with Rescue Helicopter 193 at Maenporth Beach when they were called by the coastguard to assist three persons, caught by the rising tide on the rocks whilst walking along the shore between Swanpool and Gyllyngvase. They arrived on scene at 1.40 pm, and stood by while the beach lifeguards from Gyllyngvase took them off the rocks and transferred them into the lifeboat that then landed them ashore at Gyllyngvase beach. The three then departed the scene before the beach lifeguards could get their details.

At approximately 5.50 pm the following day the lifeboat was tasked to help recover a person in the water above King Harry Ferry (KHF). Arriving at the scene at 6.05 pm the crew found the police were administering CPR to a female who had been pulled from the water so two of the lifeboat crew landed to assist the police with the CPR whilst the boat returned to the KHF to pick up two paramedics and took them to the scene. The lifeboat then transported the casualty and the paramedics back to KHF where she was placed into a waiting ambulance and taken to Treliske Hospital.

Notes to editors
• The crew involved in the rescue of the three men from the rocks were: Luke Wills (Helmsman); Andy Jenkin and Mark Rickard.
• In the second action the lifeboat was manned by: Luke Wills (Helmsman); Ollie Lewis and Steve Bond.
