Press Releases

Yesterday, Mr Frank Robb arrived at Falmouth RNLI Lifeboat Station after completing a series of walks around the Westcountry coast, visiting lifeboat stations on the way. This was his last trek, from Helston to Falmouth, and in total has walked for 135 miles around the coast and, when all the sponsorship money has been collected, will have raised approximately £600 for the RNLI.

This sum will be added to Mr Michael Grealy, the Forester’s High Chief Ranger’s appeal for the RNLI’s “Train one Save Many” scheme, which currently stands at £37,000.

Frank Robb and some of his support staff, including Mr Ken Thomas, the Devon & Cornwall Area Chief Ranger of the Ancient Order of Foresters, and his wife Joan, arrived at Falmouth station at about mid day, just as the lifeboats were returning from a morning’s exercise and training period at sea. After chatting with Mark Pollard the Coxswain, and several other members of the crew, they were given a guided tour of the lifeboat by the station’s Visits Officer, Mr Robert Thompson.

Some time later Mr Robb and his support team left the station for a well earned rest, and the volunteer crews returned home to enjoy their Sunday lunch.

Before leaving Mr Ken Thomas stated “He and his team were extremely pleased with their reception at Falmouth Lifeboat Station and the fact that they were all given a guided tour of the All Weather Lifeboat. He is fully aware of the excellent work carried out by the volunteer crews of the lifeboat and the money they have raised will go toward the essential training required by the crews to maintain their high standards of professionalism”.
