Burry Port's Busy Bank Holiday Monday

On Monday 30 August 2010 at 12:10 pm the volunteers at the RNLI station at Burry Port launched to search for two surfers in difficulty at Rhossili Bay.

After a search involving Burry Port’s Blue Peter II, SeaKing Rescue 169 and a coastguards unit the two surfers were found to have made their own way ashore...

Lymington lifeboat called to reports of a flare off Beaulieu

A reported sighting from the Thorness Bay area of the Isle of Wight at about 9pm on Monday (23 August) evening of a flare being seen over the mainland side of the Solent saw the Lymington lifeboat diverted from post exercise recovery to proceed at speed to conduct a search pattern off the Beaulieu shore.

After a period of fruitless searching and in consultation with Solent Coastguard, it was concluded that the sighting had been a false alarm with good intent and had in practice probably been either a Chinese Lantern or refraction off a bright planet in the night sky...
