Yacht's mayday message sends Falmouth all-weather lifeboat on seven-hour rescue missionA 38-foot yacht, en route from Portugal to Scotland via Falmouth, got herself into difficulties some 40 miles out to sea yesterday (Wednesday 14 July), when she lost all power, had no electrics, ripped sails, and with bad weather forecast for later in the evening. The yacht, Stravaiger of Tarbet, had attempted to send a ‘pan pan’ message (to say she required assistance but was not in immediate danger) to let the coastguard know of her predicament but found that, due to her lack of electrical power, she was not being heard...
