| Offshore Lifeboat Call Date :
Sunday 31st January 1999 Service : Search following Sighting of Red Flare Location :East of Falmouth (2D Buoy to Dodman Point) Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat was launched at 20:40 to carry out a search of an area to the East of Falmouth, following a Report of a Red Flare which had been sighted by a Naval Submarine. Both the Offshore Lifeboat, and a Helicopter from Culdrose carried out an extensive search of the area in excellent conditions, with Negative Results. As the area had been thoroughly covered from both the sea and air the search was called off. The Offshore Lifeboat was moored alongside its berth and ready for service by 23:30 (The Relief Arun Class Lifeboat "Duke of Athol" 52-46 is currently on station at Falmouth while "The Will", Falmouth's Severn Class Lifeboat is away at Refit) Coxswain : Alan Barnes |
