Offshore Lifeboat Call
Date : Tuesday 30th March 1999
Service : Yacht "Sophie" broken down, and requiring tow
Location : Off Black Head

Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat while on engine trials off the Lizard was at 18:12 requested to proceed to assist the 29ft Yacht "Sophie" which had suffered engine failure off Black Head.

The Lifeboat was alongside the casualty at 18:30 and having passed a tow to the yacht headed back to Falmouth. The casualty was safely moored at Port Pendennis Marina at 20:13.

The Offshore Lifeboat returned to its berth, was refueled, by 20:22
Coxswain : Alan Barnes.
Crew : Tim Julian, Mark Pollard. Plus three RNLI Staff and two Yard Staff
Weather : S 4, Moderate Sea, Good Visibility, Sunny Periods.
