:Sunday 28th March 1999 Service :Cove Boat "Mary Lou" broken down Location :Helford River Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched at 16:12 to go to the assistanceof the 18ft Cove Boat "Mary Lou" which had been reported as broken downin the Helford River following a mobile phone call to a relative. The Inshore Lifeboat proceeded to the Helford River to join a RescueHelicopter from RNAS Culdrose, and Falmouth Coastguard Mobile which werealready trying to locate the "Mary Lou". The Helicopter guided theInshore Lifeboat to a vessel in the Port Navas Creek which fitted thedescription of the casualty. The Inshore Lifeboat confirmed the vesselwas the "Mary Lou", and found that she had broken down in the HelfordRiver, but having anchored the crew were able to get the enginerestarted and proceed back to its beach mooring in Port Navas Creek. Thecrew were unable to update their relative's of the situation due to poorreception on their mobile phone in the Helford River.Once the Inshore Lifeboat had confirmed the casualty was safely moored its berth it was released to return to station.
