Inshore Lifeboat Call

Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched at 00:20 following a report that a person was in the water at Coastline's Wharf, Penryn River. The Falmouth Coastguard Mobile was also tasked to assist. The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 00:25 and located the man in the water hanging on to part of the wharf. The man was recovered to the Inshore Lifeboat and taken back to the Lifeboat Station for an Ambulance Paramedic to check his condition, as he had been in the water for about 30 minutes.

Once he had had a shower, a warm drink and a change of clothing he was returned to his fishing boat which was berthed alongside Coastline's Wharf. The incident had occurred when the man had fallen off a ladder while trying to get back onboard his fishing boat after a night out.

He was unable to swim against the tide but had managed to hang on to part of the wharf. His friend who had been with him raised the alarm. Once the Inshore Lifeboat had returned the casualty safely back to his fishing boat, it was released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was rehoused and ready for service by 01:40
